Day 51 – 9th July 2010

Eyes still not perfect, but loads better. Feeling in good form and healthy, so ready to go. Had a bowl of porridge (yuck) and a banana; even had some water. Better effort at last.

Temperature was probably about 16 degrees today; don’t know for sure, but felt really comfortable. The sea was very calm, with a slight drag to the east. Sun shinning and already at 7am about 23 degrees in the air – gonna be a hot one today. Bob and I out again; swam Brighton Pier to the Red Buoy at the far end of the West Pier (first time I have ever gone a little past the West Pier) then back to the Brighton Pier; then through the Pier to the buoy on the other side and back again. A really good distance and took 1 hr 16 minutes.

Bob was quick today! I think if we had kept swimming for maybe another half hour he may have tired and I probably would not have done; however even at this distance he was super fast. I was probably always 30 second behind him.

Good swim though and pleased with it after a few days of. Hopefully by Monday the eyes will be back to normal and I can do some big swims as planned.

Fiona said maybe next week we can go to Dover for a 4 hour swim!
